VIA Creative Poster Competition launched in Malawi

TotalEnergies Marketing Malawi in partnership with the Kamuzu University of Health Sciences on Tuesday, 17th May 2022 launched the VIA Creative Contest at an event held at the TotalEnergies Tsiranana Training Center in Blantyre.

The contest is part of the VIA road safety education program which is an initiative of the TotalEnergies Foundation, a philanthropy arm of the TotalEnergies group. Students across several schools in Malawi will compete with each other to create a poster with their school or road safety club on the theme of "Walking Safely to School". Winning posters will get the creator and their collaborators a financial award.

The VIA program is part of the TotalEnergies Foundation's commitment to strengthening its involvement in road safety issues around the world. The program will be deployed in schools and other educational institutions (public or private)  in Malawi with the help of local partners such as the Ministry of Education and the Road Traffic and Safety Directorate.

The objective of the program is to strengthen young people’s knowledge in road safety and enable them to develop their thinking and adapt their behavior to their own environment. It will work directly with 10 schools in Blantyre and aim to initially reach 10,000 students over a 6-month period.

The event was attended by representatives from the Directorate of Road Traffic and Safety (South); the Blantyre District Education Manager, Health and Nutrition Coordinator; the Regional Road Traffic Officer; the Mayor of the City of Blantyre; the Malawi Roads Authority; and the Road Traffic Alert Foundation.
